CAPF Assistant Commandants: Age Limit, Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must be at least 20 years old as of a specified date, such as 1st August 2023.
• Candidates must not be more than 25 years old as of a specified date, such as 1st August 2023.

Age Relaxations:

• Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates: up to 5 years.
• Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates: up to 3 years.
• Civilian Central Government Servants: up to 5 years.
• Ex-Servicemen: up to 5 years.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Applicants are required to possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or its equivalent.
• Candidates must be a citizen of India.
• Candidates must meet the physical and medical standards set by the UPSC.
• Candidates must not have any criminal cases or disqualifications under the Indian Constitution.

1. Written Examination:

• The written examination consists of two papers:
  • Paper 1: General Ability and Intelligence (200 questions, 2 hours, 400 marks)
  • Paper 2: General Studies, Essay, and Comprehension (125 questions, 3 hours, 300 marks)
• The minimum qualifying marks for the written examination is 33%.

2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

• Height: For Male – 165 cm, For Female – 157 cm
• Chest: For Male – 81 cm (unexpanded), 5 cm minimum expansion For Female – N/A
• Race: For Male – 100 meters in 16 seconds, 800 meters in 3 minutes 45 seconds, For Female – 100 meters in 18 seconds, 800 meters in 4 minutes 45 seconds
• Long Jump: For Male – 3.5 meters, For Female – 3.0 meters
• Shot Put: For Male – 7.26 Kgs. in 4.5 meters For Female – N/A

3. Medical Examination:

• The medical examination is carried out to evaluate the physical health of the applicants.
• The examination includes a thorough check-up of the candidates’ eyesight, hearing, and general health.
• Candidates who pass the medical examination are eligible for the final stage of the selection process.

4. Personality Test:

• The personality test is conducted to assess the candidates’ mental and emotional fitness for the job.
• The test consists of an interview and a group discussion.
• The interview is conducted by a panel of experts and assesses the candidates’ knowledge, communication skills, and leadership qualities.
• The group discussion is conducted to assess the candidates’ ability to work in a team.
• The personality assessment has a scoring potential of up to 200 marks.

5. Final Selection:

• The final selection is based on the candidates’ performance in the written examination, PET, medical examination, and personality test.
• The final merit list is prepared based on the total marks obtained by the candidates in all the stages of the selection process.
• The candidates who secure a place in the final merit list are appointed as Assistant Commandants in the Central Armed Police Forces.
